General Post Office, G.P.O.
Dublin's GPO is one of the oldest postal headquarter buildings in the world, having been built between 1814 and 1818. Down through the centuries it has come to be recognised as an important part of Irish history. It was the site for the Easter Rising of 1916, which although ended in failure was the catalyst for Ireland gaining independence from Britain and becoming a free republic. It still functions as a post office today and has an interesting and interactive philatelic exhibition.
